Full-time Game Tester

at Double Fine in San Francisco, California

Description:


Double Fine is currently looking for an experienced game tester for its San Francisco development studio.  The primary job responsibility is to test games to ensure that all the quality requirements are met.


The ideal candidate is responsible and dependable.  He or she should have an eye for detail, a great work ethic, excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.  As well, the ideal candidate is prepared to work occasional overtime, late hours and weekends in addition to the 40-hour workweek.  Prior testing experience is required.  The role demands a charismatic personality, the ability to get along well with others, and a strong conviction about developing quality software.  Additional key success factors for this role include strong follow up and organizational skills.


Responsibilities:



  1. Test the game for functionality and usability

  2. Follow and recommend software quality assurance procedures

  3. Learn the architecture of the technical systems for the game features, and use this information to uncover latent software deficiencies

  4. Provide feedback on the game and its playability

  5. Write up clear, reproducible bug reports in our database software according to our internal specifications

  6. Track the progress of all bugs reported, verify their reproducibility, and follow up consistently until they are resolved

  7. Interact with development and production teams to help find and solve technical problems

  8. Ensure all test material is up to date, builds are stable, and equipment is ready for testing

  9. Make recommendations for the optimization of testing processes and methodologies

  10. Manage any external relations as appropriate


Requirements:



  1. Minimum education level of a high school diploma

  2. Must be 18 years of age or older

  3. Fast typing skills are required

  4. At least 1 year experience with current generation game console and PC testing at a game developer or publisher

  5. Sound working knowledge of database software

  6. Responsible and dependable

  7. Quick learner who can easily absorb technical concepts and constraints

  8. Autonomous worker who has excellent analytical and problem solving skills

  9. An eye for detail

  10. Avid video game player

  11. Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  12. Enjoy working in a team environment under tight deadlines
