As Veil Entertainment's Community Manager & Jr. Designer, you'll be on the frontlines of communication and interaction with the players of our new, indie, free-to-play, browser-based, 3D battle, trading card game, Rise & Ruin. You will act as the voice of the player, gathering and delivering feedback from the community, in addition to representing the development team in the game. Your combination of creative writing and analytical skills will help you design fun, story-driven ways to keep players engaged. You will find innovative ways to promote the game on third-party web sites to attract new players. In addition, you will be involved in the day-to-day operations of the game. Most importantly, you're someone who is truly passionate about online communities and trading card games.

Responsibilities:

• Liaison between the community and the development team. You will be the primary voice the community hears.


• Working with third-party web sites to promote the game through reviews, previews, content releases, and other means to attract new players


• Using available resources to create tournaments, contests and other events to keep users as engaged as possible


• Tying those tournaments, contests, and other events into the ongoing story of the game world through creative writing


• Compose and publish regular newsletters, articles, forum posts, web site content updates, and more in order to keep a flow of information going to the community


• Work with internal and external developers to ensure that messaging is coordinated and consistent with what everyone is working on


• Coordinating and executing cross promotions with partners


• Using your familiarity with the nuances of the game to support the growth of the external community


• Delivering regular reports to the development team on community feedback, trends, activity level and performance indicators and customer concerns


• Facilitating bug reporting during open beta

Requirements:

• Excellent, speedy writer. Perfect English-language spelling and grammar.


• Superb creative writing skills which can entertain a diverse audience


• Upbeat and project both enthusiasm and friendliness


• Understanding of online games in general and trading card games in particular


• Self-motivated. Constantly looking for new opportunities to strengthen and engage the community.


• A creative mindset. Adept at finding new ways to deliver content.


• Photoshop and HTML skills sufficient to make basic alterations to images and format basic text


• Strong command of MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)


• Be thoroughly, incredibly organized


• Previous experience building and moderating online communities
