MTV Networks has a dynamic opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer Contractor tosupport our Shockwave and AddictingGames web development. You are anindividual with skill in Java and J2EE with a background in building highlyscalable websites. Additionally, you can take a lead role in the design,implementation and integration of new features into our sites.  What you get to do every day: Develop new technology for high availability consumer facing websitesthat are changing the face of entertainment Translate technical requirements into specifications by working closelywith Project Managers as you create new features and functionality for ourproductsOwn and be accountable for multiple projects in dynamic iterative releasecyclesDefine updates, issues and communicate same to key stakeholders in theprocessManage Quality assurance using standard coding guidelines and versioncontrol to track changesManage resource allocation to meet deadlines and shifting prioritiesWhat you bring to the mix:BS in computer science or equivalent professional experience doinghands-on development with object-oriented methodologies 5+ years of work in a production environment with consumer facing webdevelopmentSolid understanding of Java 1.5 features to include Collections,Generics, MVC Frameworks - Spring or StrutsPrevious work with browser-based technology to include JavaScript, CSS,DOM, HTML and front-end J2EE technologies - JSP, JSTL and TaglibsStrong team skills, an attention to detail and excellent communicationskills both written and verbalWorking knowledge of scripting languages - Python or Perl.Experience with source control tools – SubversionComfort with work in a Linux development environmentUse of Hibernate, SQL, and with relational database architectureExperience writing thread-safe code
