Artists. Without them, games would be untextured, and most game characters would be teapots. Sure, different teapots would have various degrees of tessellation, and the whole world would have real-time dynamic lighting - but still, not many games can be made with teapots alone. That's where the artist comes in.

Artists at Acheron Design often find themselves working on a wide range of tasks. As a studio with deliberately small team sizes, you won't be spending all your time unwrapping someone else's models until you unwrap the postman's face one day in a fit of rage. Variety is the key, but it takes a great artist to be able to consistently deliver high quality artwork across such a wide range of tasks.

That's where you come in. You are a passionate artist. You have natural ability with traditional and computer art. You have vision and creativity beyond the average. You have a passion for games, and you have probably wanted to make them ever since you first discovered they existed. You are looking for a career in game development, not just a job. You want to be part of the process, not just a small cog in a big machine.

You are looking for Acheron Design, but we are also looking for you.

• Discipline-specific portfolio materials (see below)

Be sure to attach any relevant materials for your chosen discipline. Artists, for example, should attach their portfolio or showreel (or provide links to an online version). Programmers, on the other hand, should submit examples of their code, and compiled executables for any sample projects you submit.

Following your application, there is a gentle screening process. Successful candidates are then asked to complete a small project (eg, modelling, animating, programming, designing, etc). If we see that special, exciting quality in your submission, we will arrange an interview so that we can get to know you, and you can get to know us. If we both feel the same way, you will become the newest member of the Acheron Design team.
