Summary

We are seeking a QA Specialist II. The person in this position conducts essential testing of Bally game products, hardware installations and peripheral devices, as well as internally developed content development software, tools, and libraries used by Bally teams.

Duties

• Tests, troubleshoots and performs setup of software/hardware gaming products and related equipment • Ensures games play according to their design, within performance specifications, without crashes or defects • Ensures games pay correctly under all test conditions and report all information correctly to the operating system • Operates simulators, emulators and other testing related equipment or software • Conducts tests and reports data in a prescribed format using automated and manual methods • Reports and tracks defects through established issue tracking databases • Creates test plans for existing and new products • Creates automated test scripts • Performs other duties as assigned

Training AND/OR Experience:

• Minimum of two years working with or testing gaming devices or similar machines or similar work experience • Casino or gaming background preferred

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

• Must be PC fluent • Familiarity with embedded systems a plus • Storage media familiarity including, SD/CF Cards, USB Flash • Knowledge of computer hardware and software • Experience with firmware devices a plus • Knowledge in automated testing techniques a plus • Expertise in testing and test plan development a plus • Expertise in computer hardware design a plus • Must have solid understanding of software design and user experience testing • Must have excellent communication and documentation skills • Mechanically inclined • Self-motivated

The Quality Assurance Lead will work under the Engineering Director. The lead will test video games and applications and act as a coordinator for the quality assurance team. The job incumbent will work in a dynamic and passionate team and interact with software engineers from Montreal and California. More specifically, the person will be required to:

Determine the team’s priorities

Supervise the quality assurance team (quality control, respect deadlines, hiring process, mediation between QAs and hardware vendors’ employees)

Report any problem to the certification manager

Collaborate with the Montreal QA coordinator to standardize test procedures

Certify and test software to ensure conformity with required specifications and quality standards

Perform tests on equipment similar to that installed on aircrafts and prepare loadable media

Operate embedded systems, use different software and prepare media releases

Report test results and defects

Use a defect (bug) tracking system and interact with on-site and remote software engineers

Follow up on defects and corrections

Participate in problem resolution

Carry out debugging and software engineering when needed

Be involved in QA process improvement and related documentation.

Requirements and knowledge

College diploma or equivalent experience in computer science

Knowledge of programming, OOP and C/C++

2 years minimum experience in software testing

1 year minimum of experience managing a team

Knowledge of Windows and Linux

Knowledge of Linux shell scripting

Knowledge of compression software (ZIP,GZIP)

Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Valid driver’s license (to move from one site to another in the Irvine area).
